So pleased you’re being reviewed by Norman Rush, but the paywall is a drag! I can’t read more than a few paragraphs.
A glowing review that made me curious about the book, but frustratingly thin on what the experience of reading it is actually like. Rush does quote a few felicitous phrases, but I was left wanting more–and the excerpt on Penguin’s website is too short! I guess I’ll have to go to an actual bookstore…
EC: I fully support your visit to a bookstore! The book will be there on August 6. In the meantime, there’s also an excerpt in the July issue of Harper’s, which you can read online if you’re a subscriber, and there’s going to be another excerpt on the website of the journal n+1, currently scheduled to appear on Friday.
